DM Reports Sending more than 100 Special Forces to Evacuate Britons from Sudan

Britain has sent more than 100 special forces to the Middle East to evacuate its citizens from Sudan, the Daily Mail reports.

The British servicemen plan to act jointly with their American colleagues. According to the newspaper, Japan and the Netherlands also sent their military planes.

The British Foreign Office urged all its citizens in Sudan to register their presence. They should indicate their whereabouts, contact information and information about whether they want to leave the country. This will allow London to understand how many people need to be evacuated.

According to the Daily Mail, there may also be about 16,000 United States citizens in Sudan.

Earlier in the day, Sudan’s rapid reaction forces (Special Forces) said they were ready to partially open airports to evacuate foreign nationals from the country. At the same time, the special forces are ready to assist in coordinating and providing all means to evacuate foreigners and diplomatic missions of other states.

The situation in the country has deteriorated because of disagreements between Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who heads the sovereign council (the country’s governing body), and his deputy Mohammed Daglo. On the morning of April 15, clashes broke out between the army and special forces near the military base in the city of Meroe and in the capital Khartoum.
