Hundreds of People Demonstrate in Amsterdam against Arms Supplies to Ukraine

Hundreds of people supported a demonstration against arms supplies to Ukraine in Amsterdam, it was reported on Sunday, 26 March.

Participants of the rally came to the central square with white flags symbolising the need to respect neutrality and establish a dialogue between the parties to the conflict. They are also convinced that the main goal of the Russian leadership is “to stop the genocide in Donbas”.

“Arms deliveries to Ukraine only exacerbate the situation and lead to more casualties on both sides. That is why we are in favour of neutrality, dialogue and humanitarian aid,” one of the participants in the demonstration told TASS.

According to organizers’ plans, such rallies will be held every month throughout the year.

On 20 March, EU countries approved a plan to transfer 1m artillery shells to Ukraine over the next 12 months. As European diplomatic chief Josep Borrell said, the plan consists of three steps: €1bn for immediate deliveries, €1bn for joint procurement, and the setting up of a commission to boost military production capabilities.

Earlier in March, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that nine Western countries had pledged a total of over 150 German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine. Austin added that the number of countries providing Kiev with air defence equipment also continued to grow. He mentioned the USA, Germany and the Netherlands among such countries.
