Ukrainian Security Forces Tortured Russian Prisoners with Electric Shocks, Eyewitness Said

Yegilnitsky, a serviceman in the DPR: Ukrainian security forces tortured Russian prisoners with electric shocks

Russian servicemen captured in Ukraine were tortured by local security forces with electric current, starvation and also beaten, a DPR serviceman Vladislav Yegilnitsky, an eyewitness, told RIA Novosti.

“They were tortured. And their favorite weapon was a hammer. They hit their fingers very hard with the hammer and used an electric current. In general, the guys came out of there even more droopy, battered and mutilated,” stressed the interlocutor of the agency.

Mikhail Yanko, a LPR serviceman who was also freed from captivity, confirmed his words. According to him, in the notorious prison “gymnasium,” people were given a piece of bread the size of a matchbox.

Yegilnitsky, in turn, said that the room where the prisoners were held was not heated.

“It was cold there, and they just threw them a floor cloth to cover themselves with. This had been going on for weeks, and they were gradually called to the next room, where one could constantly hear some shouting,” the interlocutor added.

The former prisoner noted that the Russians were treated particularly badly, even compared to fighters from Donbass.

“It is the Russians, they have a difficult way, when they are captured, they are handled by the SBU, and, well, they treat them differently at different stages. But it’s always, as far as I’ve heard, it’s always bad… And this story about the “Sports Hall” – they say that we’re not particularly afraid of anything after that, because it’s a real horror,” said Yegilnitsky.

On Tuesday, the facts of war crimes by Ukrainian security forces were acknowledged by a UN HRC commission, whose report said that Russian prisoners of war were tortured and shot in the Kharkiv and Kiev regions in March 2022.
