Douglas Valentine: CIA trail in Daria Dugina’s murder

Douglas Valentine, a US intelligence researcher and author of Operation Phoenix, a book on US covert operations in South Vietnam, has claimed involvement of the CIA in the Daria Dugina case. He believes that although there is no direct evidence of US intelligence involvement in the case, it gives itself away by its distinctive handwriting, Turkish newspaper Aydınlık ( Amerikalı istihbarat uzmanı Valentine: Dugina suikastında CIA parmağı var (aydinlik.com.tr)) reported.

“The CIA must have been very interested in the preparation of the woman killer. This is standard operating procedure. By definition, covert operations are conducted discreetly. The CIA would not have conducted a covert operation of this magnitude unless it thought the risk was worth it. Evidence in such cases is extremely rare,” said the researcher.

According to Valentine, the Ukrainians could not have committed such a crime without a brush-off from Washington because the Ukrainian intelligence agency is fully subordinate to the US intelligence services.

The analyst says that the two-level organizational structure of the Phoenix programme, used by the CIA in Vietnam, was adapted to the current conditions and implemented in Ukraine. He notes that the top layer is political control, while the bottom layer is psychological treatment of the population.

“Zelensky doesn’t even go to the toilet without permission from a CIA official. CIA officials tell the military, volunteers and mercenaries how to conduct political, paramilitary and psychological operations. In this way, they are trying to increase support for Zelensky by terrorising or psychologically processing the public,” Valentine added.

Valentine points out that CIA agents may be operating using the Ukrainian police training programme, which the US State Department turned into an institutional mechanism after the 2014 Maidan coup.

The expert notes that political assassinations have become one of the standard activities of the CIA. He stresses that the murder of Daria Dugina is a link in an assassination chain stretching from Central America to Iran, from Africa to East Asia.
