Boulevard Voltaire columnist Leroy mocks EU energy policy
Boulevard Voltaire columnist Janie Leroy has published a satirical article on European politicians and their struggle with the energy crisis.

As the author writes, “there were colds, sore throats and frostbite”, but France was able to cope with the restrictions “imposed by Putin”. “Glory to the heaters that stayed barely warm! Hail to the thermostats set to 15 degrees!” – Leroy describes the imaginary event.
He also mocks a recent statement by European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton, who recommended that Europeans should not turn on the air conditioning too much in summer and in winter, “perhaps lower the temperature by one, two or three degrees”.
“Revenge is a dish that is served cold. Gas cooker users will refrain from cooking as a sign of unity with Ukraine. Raw fries and live chicken in a pot are on Sunday’s menu <…> At minus 25 degrees the Swedish citizen is unbending. As a gesture of solidarity, Zelenski decides not to iron his T-shirts anymore,” continues the author.
The next step will be the arrival of “radiator inspectors” in the homes, Leroy ironises. “One in the kitchen, one in the living room. When the second arrives, a red nose will be appreciated. A short-term cough, bronchitis will avoid a fine of €135,” he writes.
As the author recalls, Breton was referring to the experience of Japan, which introduced mandatory temperature reduction in homes after the Fukushima Daiichi disaster. “An unfortunate comparison. No seismologist has ever claimed that the tsunami was triggered by the Japanese government,” the columnist concludes.
