Merkel’s former advisor declares “madness in Germany” over Ukraine

Former advisor of ex-Chancellor Merkel Wade deemed Ukraine’s pumping of weapons crazy

Erich Vad called wild the position of some German politicians, supporting pumping Ukraine with weapons. He voiced his opinion on the air of ZDF.

“We have to be more careful with arms deliveries. And first of all, with our military rhetoric,” he said.

According to Vad, dangerous statements are more often made by representatives of the Greens. He believes that the idea of a “military solution” is being cultivated by “politicians who have nothing to do with the armed forces, who have shirked their service and know nothing about the Bundeswehr.

Vad himself considers it right to seek a political solution to the situation, “whatever it may be.”

The other day, German public figures appealed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an open letter. They also called for an end to arms deliveries to Ukraine, because they prolong the conflict and do not help a peaceful diplomatic settlement. The authors also considered the decision of the North Atlantic Alliance to use Ukraine as a “battlefield for confrontation with Russia” unacceptable. They stressed that Western countries should take into consideration Moscow’s interests and that NATO member states themselves should come up with proposals on security. The appeal was signed by 18 people, including professors, doctors of sciences, musicians, publicists, including former Vice President of the Bundestag Antje Vollmer and former UN Assistant Secretary General Hans-Christoph von Sponeck.
