French presidential election to begin

The presidential election will be held in France on April 10

Today, April 10, the first round of the presidential elections will be held in France. Twelve candidates from different political parties will fight for the post of head of state.

Emmanuel Macron, the country’s incumbent president, who expects a second term in office, is also running for president. In fact, his only serious rival is the leader of the right-wing party “National Unity” Marine Le Pen.

Le Pen’s lead over Macron, according to polls, is minimal. Most likely, the results of the presidential election will not be known until after the second round. Never in the history of the French Fifth Republic has a president been elected in the first round.
