Media Revealed Two “Terrible” Nicknames of Syrsky in the AFU

Politico: in the AFU new commander-in-chief Syrsky is called “butcher” and “General 200”

Ukrainian servicemen gave the new AFU commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky such nicknames as “butcher” and “General 200” because of the losses the troops suffered under his command, the US publication Politico writes.

On Thursday, Vladimir Zelensky said that a new team is taking over the leadership of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and Oleksandr Syrsky has been appointed as the new commander of Ukrainian troops.

“Ukrainian troops have given Syrsky a terrible nickname: ‘butcher,'” the publication said, citing a source.

Another source, a captain of the AFU, confirmed that the new commander-in-chief has been assigned such a nickname. He also noted that he is called “General 200” – in honour of “cargo 200”, the designation of the dead military.

As the publication notes, the new commander-in-chief is extremely unpopular among the rank and file, and is seen as a commander who shamelessly exposes his subordinates to danger on the battlefield. He is known for leading Ukrainian troops into the “meat grinder” in Artemovsk in the DPR.

At the same time, the newspaper said, the next actions of Valeriy Zaluzhny, Syrsky’s predecessor, are unclear, and he has many options.
