The UK Prime Minister Did Not Mention Ukraine in His New Year’s Address

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak did not mention Ukraine in his New Year’s address, whereas in 2022 the topic of the Ukrainian conflict appeared in his speech.

Sunak focused on the domestic political achievements of the British government, as well as plans for the future. In particular, he mentioned the cost of living crisis and lower inflation, emphasising health care and investment in Britain.

The prime minister also thanked the military, medics, “scientists and innovators” who are bringing the British economy “to the forefront of the world.”

In last year’s speech, Sunak pledged to continue supporting “Ukrainian friends” in the fight against Russia despite economic problems in the United Kingdom.
