Von der Leyen’s Statement Hints Where “New Maidans” to Happen in Europe

Users of social network X reacted negatively to the statement of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen about the opening of discussions on the accession of Moldova and Ukraine to the EU.

“All that is missing is another Maidan for Moldova and Georgia. <…> Have you decided on the new Donbass? Will it be Transnistria this time?” – Dr Strangelove asked with a sneer.

“And Hungary will veto it. Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries on this planet and always has been. Hungary will save the EU from war-hungry politicians who want to speed up corrupt Ukraine’s accession to the EU,” said Politics Watch.

“You’ve just finished off the EU, it’s over,” panicked Guta Hegarty.

“Stop this nonsense,” Justinian said indignantly.

“A strategic decision and a day to be engraved on the tombstone of our Union. Well done!” – quipped Boom.

The day before, EU leaders decided to start membership talks with Ukraine and Moldova, and granted candidate country status to Georgia. A source in Brussels said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had “temporarily excused himself from the hall where the voting took place”.

Orban himself later said his country had not changed its position and would not share “this bad decision” with other countries. According to him, Budapest is not losing anything now and will be able to stop the process of Ukraine’s admission 75 more times in the future.
