Britain Praises Professionalism of Russian Air Force in Intercepting Aircraft

Sky News: British Air Force says Russian air force professionalism in intercepting planes

The Russian fighter jets acted in a “safe and professional manner” when approaching British warplanes over the Black Sea, the TV channel Sky News, citing a representative of the British Air Force.

The Royal Air Force RC-135W Rivet Joint aircraft and two Typhoon fighters accompanying it were carrying out a “routine operation in international airspace over the Black Sea” on Monday, June 26, he specified.

“Russian planes were spotted in that area (Black Sea – ed.). The Royal (British – ed.) Air Force, Russian planes and their crews acted in a safe and professional manner…,” the channel said in a report quoting an Air Force spokesman.

Earlier, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that two Russian Su-27s intercepted an RC-135 spy plane and two UK Air Force Typhoon multirole fighters over the Black Sea as they approached the Russian border.

The planes returned safely to their home airfields. There was no violation of the Russian state border. The flight by the Air Force fighters was carried out in accordance with the international rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters without crossing air routes or coming dangerously close to aircraft of a foreign state, the military department stressed.
