An Ice Cream Kiosk Installed Near the Gates of Auschwitz in Poland

An ice cream kiosk was installed near the former Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland. This is reported by Gazeta Wyborcza.

The kiosk was located on the road leading from the parking lot to the former Nazi death camp, about 200-300 meters from the gate. Tables and chairs were set up near the kiosk, with brightly colored advertisements for ice cream, so that “hungry and thirsty tourists could sit comfortably,” the newspaper said.

Local residents, museum officials, municipal and county officials were also outraged by the kiosk’s location. It turned out to be an impost construction. The authorities started an inspection.

“This is disrespect for a special historical site located nearby. However, this “cafe” is outside the protection zone of the Holocaust monument … so, unfortunately, we have no influence on it. We trust that the competent authorities will solve this awkward problem,” said a representative of the Auschwitz Museum.
