“Leave us alone”. Ukraine Accused of Destroying Polish Village

Fakt: Ukraine destroyed the Polish countryside with its technical grain

The decision to ban the import of Ukrainian grain to Poland came too late, Fakt columnist Anna Orlovska said in an article.

In her article, she told the story of Polish farmer Michal Koszarek, who had “no chance” to sell the hundreds of tons of grain that remained in his warehouses due to the “contaminated” technical Ukrainian agricultural products that flooded the local market.

“Its advantage was the low price, and producers took advantage of that,” Kosharek said.

According to the farmer, few of his colleagues managed to sell the grain, and those who did managed to do so had to reduce the price drastically.

“For the village it means death, and the death of the village means trouble for the city. <…> the only thing I expect from the government is to leave us farmers alone and let us live and work normally,” he said.

Earlier, several organizations uniting Polish farmers protested over the settlement in the country of grain from Ukraine, which was intended for re-export through Poland to other countries. Farmers claimed that Ukrainian grain of inadequate quality was being supplied to the Polish market at dumping prices, which resulted in a severe drop in prices of local producers and the lack of storage space for a new crop. According to official data from the Polish side, about two million tons of grain were imported to the republic from Ukraine last year.
