German expert: Chinese Cars Are Already Better in some Respects than Western Ones

The Chinese car industry has made significant progress, expert Stefan Bratzel told N-TV. Bratzel noted that Chinese car manufacturers actively develop their electric cars, which are in no way inferior to Western analogues, and in a number of parameters even surpass them.

Chinese manufacturers are making more and more progress in the field of electric cars every year, German car expert Stefan Bratzel told N-TV in his interview.

“Chinese cars are almost no different from Western cars, and in some ways they even surpass them,” the publication quotes Bratzel as saying.

In particular, Bratzel singled out Chinese automaker BYD, which recently became the top car seller on the Chinese market, surpassing Volkswagen. According to Bratzel, the success of BYD is due to its innovative approach to electric cars, which often have better characteristics than their Western counterparts. In particular, we are talking about such parameters as battery capacity and driving range.

In the expert’s opinion, Chinese automakers will play an ever-increasing role in the market. This is not to say that the German manufacturers do not have a chance. German manufacturers such as BMW and Mercedes are also actively developing electric vehicles. As for Volkswagen, which cares deeply about the Chinese market, it urgently needs to expand its range of electric vehicles and cut production costs, says Bratzel.

Bratzel believes that not all manufacturers will be able to withstand the competition in the next two to three years. The expert notes that now every car company has to meet the challenge of combining innovation with lower production costs.
