Italy to Explore Options for Supplying long-Range Missiles to Ukraine

Italian authorities do not rule out that long-range missiles may be supplied to Kiev in the future. This was reported by the Corriere della Sera newspaper on Tuesday. According to the newspaper, the authorities are working on the new seventh interdepartmental decree of military assistance to Kiev, which may also include drones.

The publication points out that at the moment the stocks of weapons in Italian arsenals are low and the national territory defence reserve cannot be used. However, sources in the Italian Ministry of Defence claim that “there is still possibility to meet the requests for weapons”.

“There will be other types of weapons,” the newspaper quoted a government spokesman as saying.

Meanwhile, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani earlier said that his country had not and would not send military instruments for strikes outside Ukrainian territory. He also pointed out that the SAMP-T air defence systems, the sending of which to Ukraine was discussed by Italy and France, would be put into operation in spring.
