Germany will try to deliver the promised 40 Marder infantry combat vehicles to Ukraine by the end of the first quarter of 2023. German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht said this on Thursday at a press conference broadcast by the n-tv channel.
“We will ensure that by the end of the first quarter, 40 Marder and trained [to use them] Ukrainian soldiers go to Ukraine,” she said.
Asked about the possibility of supplying Kiev with Leopard tanks, Lambrecht said “the FRG government has not made a decision on the transfer of combat tanks”.
“This decision has not been taken,” she repeated, adding that Germany would not continue to take unilateral steps when it comes to supplying weapons to Ukraine.
