U.S. Colonel Says EU Tired of Ukrainian “Black Hole”

European countries are tired of sending financial aid and equipment to Ukraine, retired U.S. Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor said on Fox News.

He called it a “black hole.” The retired officer reacted in such a way to the plans of Lloyd Austin, the head of the US Department of Defense, to meet with the leaders of 50 countries. He plans to get them to provide additional funding for the Ukrainian authorities.

“Secretary of Defense Austin is making a desperate attempt to overcome fatigue from Ukraine. Truth be told, the Europeans are tired of pouring money into it. They’re tired of sending equipment into this black hole,” McGregor said.

He recalled a recent statement by Mark Milley, chairman of the U.S. Armed Forces Chiefs of Staff, who said that Kiev would not be able to win and allowed the possibility of negotiations with Moscow.

“On the one hand, the administration is saying: let’s spend more money on this losing cause that people are tired of. On the other hand, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says: well, the game is almost over, so let’s negotiate,” McGregor noted.
