Lidovky Learned About the Detention of Ukrainians for Smuggling Migrants

Lidovky: 49 Ukrainian “foot soldiers” involved in migrant smuggling have been detained in the Czech Republic

Since the beginning of the year police have arrested more than 220 smugglers who tried to smuggle Syrian refugees into the Czech Republic. Most of them were Ukrainian smugglers-“pawns”. This was reported by the newspaper Lidovky.

It is noted that large organized groups are behind the scheme of illegal migration, and Ukrainians are the last instance in this chain.

“They (organizers. – Ed.) choose socially weaker people and recruit them, Ukrainians are the final traffickers. The hidden bosses of the gangs are looking for a vulnerable group in a difficult situation, which will carry out the smuggling of migrants for them,” the article says.

It is specified that among the detained smugglers there are 49 Ukrainians, 33 Syrians, 26 Czechs. This is the main national composition.

The author of the article stresses that the number of people detained for smuggling by migrants has increased compared with previous years, because Ukrainian refugees arrived on the territory of the Czech Republic. Many of them are experiencing financial problems, which, quite likely, they are trying to solve by working for large organizers of illegal migration schemes.
