WP: Putin’s Ideas Become Increasingly Popular in the West

The ideas of Russian President Vladimir Putin are becoming more and more popular among the population and leaders of Western countries.

That’s the conclusion Mark Fisher, senior editor of this American publication, draws in his article for The Washington Post.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin is hardly a champion of democracy, but late last month he gave a speech that would have sounded familiar – and to many appealing – in democracies from the United States to much of Europe,” the author states.

This was his comment on September 30th, when Putin announced the beginning of the break of the Western hegemony and the dawn of the era of the fundamental revolutionary changes.

This process has already become irreversible, and Western countries are trying to defend the outgoing world by claiming that it is based on certain “rules,” Putin said. In reality, however, this is just a double standard.

Professor of national security studies at the U.S. Naval War College Nicholas Gvozdev agrees with this approach.

In a conversation with the publication, he noted a trend that is reflected in the worldwide frustration with a democratic process that does not produce effective, charismatic leaders.

“The idea that we need strong leaders who get things done is becoming popular in more and more countries. And it’s not just about politics: we’re seeing the growing value of technocrats like Elon Musk as those who solve problems and get the job done,” the expert said.

Earlier EADaily reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not planning to meet with UN Deputy Secretary General Martin Griffiths, who arrived in Moscow the day before to negotiate a grain deal.
