Let’s Prepare for Germany’s Downfall – Polish Economist

Germany is in fear of its future. This is the opinion of Polish economist Bartosz Bartczak, who has written a column for Niezalezna.pl entitled “Let’s prepare for the fall of Germany”.

This conclusion is reached by the author for two reasons. First, Bartczak believes that the idea of a European energy policy based on Russian gas is failing and, second, “the big problem – China” looms on the horizon. In the view of the Polish economist, Germany is ” obviously moving towards isolationism”.

“We are entering a period of de-globalisation, perhaps a new Cold War. And that could mean the end of Germany’s economic strength. This will be a challenge for us [Poland], but also an opportunity, if we approach it wisely,” Bartosz Bartczak believes.

The author believes that in creating their policy, the Germans did not take into account the factor of China’s and the US’s determination to oppose the unification of Russia and Germany.

“Neither Beijing nor Washington can afford cooperation between Germany and Russia. Above all because it would be a third player, as strong as they are, so it could benefit, according to the saying ‘where two fight…’,” Bartczak believes.

The economist concludes that Germany, with its strategy, is caught in a geopolitical trap defined by the interests of the larger powers, the U.S. and China.
