British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has a peculiarity: she ignores any arguments and her visit to Moscow was a “sad spectacle”, Russian ambassador to London Andrey Kaelyn said on the air of the TV channel Russia 24.
The diplomat commented on Truss’ statements about her willingness to meet “for a talk” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as her readiness to “snub” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“We saw Liz Truss in action when she came to Moscow. It was a sad sight. Everyone talked about it a lot. ” She failed completely to ‘face down’ Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov. And I think she will not be able to do anything at a higher level either, especially in the company of Indonesia. She has one peculiarity: she does not listen to arguments or lets them pass her ear. I made sure of that myself”, TASS quoted Kaelyn as saying.
In early February, the media reported that Liz Truss initially refused to recognize Russian sovereignty over the Rostov and Voronezh regions during talks with Sergey Lavrov.
British ambassador Deborah Bronnert later intervened and explained to the head of the Foreign Office that the regions in question were, in fact, Russian regions.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the “ill-educated” woman’s attempt to ” call out and face down” Sergei Lavrov in Moscow ended her shame.
