WSJ: Leaks from the Bundeswehr could spoil NATO’s relations with Germany

Relations between Germany and NATO may become more complicated due to the interception of an audio recording of a conversation between the German military about plans to attack the Crimean bridge with the possible use of Taurus missiles. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal on Saturday, 2 March.

According to the newspaper, it follows from the conversation that the military of Britain, France and the United States are already in Ukraine. NATO servicemen are helping Kiev to maintain sophisticated Western equipment. At the same time, according to WSJ, the mentioned countries deny the presence of their militaries there.

“The leak has caused fury in Germany and could lead to strained relations with Germany’s NATO allies,” the paper says.

The newspaper argues that the leak has made Taurus deliveries to Ukraine much more unlikely.

According to the WSJ, the conversation between the German Air Force officers was conducted on the WebEx platform and one of the participants in the meeting connected to the conversation via his mobile phone.
