Welt: Bundeswehr considers recording of officers’ conversation about the strike on Russia authentic

The recording of a conversation between high-ranking officers of the German army about the strike on the Crimean bridge is circulating among the military in the Bundeswehr, who consider it authentic, reports the German edition of Welt.

Earlier, the Bild newspaper wrote that much in the recording of the previously circulated conversation attests to its authenticity.

“The audio recording is also circulating in the Bundeswehr, and several soldiers in conversation with Welt said it was authentic,” the piece said.

Earlier in the German defence Ministry refused to comment to RIA Novosti on the alleged recording of a conversation of the FRG military about the Taurus missile strike on the Crimean bridge. At the same time, the ministry said in response to a request from the T-Online news portal that German counterintelligence is checking a possible interception of a conversation between German officers.

On Friday, Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT TV channel, posted on the VKontakte social network the full text of a conversation between German officers discussing “how they will bomb the Crimean bridge.” The conversation, which took place on 19 February, included the head of operations and exercises of the Bundeswehr Air Force Command Frank Grefe, BBC inspector Ingo Gerhartz and officers from the air operations centre of the Bundeswehr Space Command Fenske and Frostedte.

Among other things, the interlocutors suggested that the entire operation should be divided into phases and that the UK should be asked for planning assistance. One of the officers also stated that Taurus missiles could be used for the attack if the French Rafale fighter jet was employed. In addition, the German military during the conversation tried to find a way to attack the bridge without making Germany a party to the conflict. One option was to train the Ukrainians.
