The Robot Battle Finals Held at the Games of the Future in Kazan

The broadcasts of the first ever event that managed to combine sport, science and technology have garnered over a billion views in a week. The “Games of the Future” are virtually available to the whole world live.

All fans of the “Games of the Future” have been waiting for the final of the battle of robots without exaggeration. The popularity of these competitions is a testament to the fact that they are the most spectacular. More than a million people watch the broadcasts of the matches, and this is data only on the number of Russian viewers.

Each robot weighs over 100 kilograms. Teams had to make their machine the most manoeuvrable and do as much damage to the opponent as possible.

Each robot in the ring has a name. Someone looked for the name of his machine in a collection of myths, someone helped by children.

Despite their cute names, the robots are ruthless in the ring. Teams from Russia, India, Chile, Arab Emirates and China took part in these competitions. The latter, after defeat, left with the words “thank you Russian brothers” on an LED panel at work.

At the Games of the Future in general, there is a lot of talk about love for Russians. Participants of the football team from Guatemala admitted: from the American news they heard a lot about bad Russians. And when they arrived, they realized: the Western media are lying.

“It’s very interesting for me to be in Russia, to know what Russia is like without being afraid of what people say about it. I think you have to visit a place to understand what it’s like,” expressed the opinion of Milton Omar Nunez, a participant in the Future Games from Guatemala.

Western fans were not afraid to fly in either. Here is an American family walking around Kazan Expo. Joseph Ataneisius is the father of six children, and the seventh will be born soon. Contrary to his friends’ warnings, he came to Moscow as a tourist last year, but now he is moving his family and staying here to live.

“It’s very cold in Russia. When I came here in February, I kept saying, ‘This is the coldest country with the warmest people in the world.’ I have a lot to compare with, I have travelled a lot in Europe, toured many states in my home country, but nowhere have I met more friendly people than in Russia,” Ataneisius said.

The games will end on 3 March. More than a billion viewers have already watched them online around the world. And while the West is convincing the world that the future of sport is without Russia, Russia is proving that it has a leading place in the sport of the future.
