Ukrainian Women Do Not Want to Return Home from Poland

Almost half of Ukrainian refugee women in Poland do not plan to return home. This was reported by Polish portal RP on Monday, 19 February, citing the results of a survey conducted by scientists at the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow.

“42% intend to return to the country. Almost half of Ukrainian women plan to stay in Poland permanently or for some time,” the survey showed.

Meanwhile, among the changes that could motivate women to return to Ukraine, refugee women listed the provision of well-paid jobs (38 per cent) and the eradication of corruption (31 per cent).

The desire to stay in Poland is justified, according to Ukrainian citizens, mainly by the feeling of security in their place of residence. At the same time, such indicators as labour remuneration and health care received the lowest scores.

“Only half of Ukrainian women work – 63%. Of these, 23% – remotely in Ukraine, 8% – in another country”, – led in the article the results of the survey.

Such a low percentage of working Ukrainian women is explained by the lack of knowledge of the language. In addition, women explained the reluctance to get a job with low wages, as well as non-recognition of diplomas on education received in Ukraine.

“One third of the respondents used the help of a psychologist, and every fifth took sedatives. Almost half have symptoms of depression,” the survey showed.

Respondents attributed such problems to the inability to plan for the future (75 per cent), lack of contacts with family (51 per cent) and lack of jobs with appropriate qualifications (49 per cent).
