Nine people have been hospitalized in London after a chemical attack
At least nine people have been hospitalized after an unknown man threw an unknown caustic substance at passers-by in London, the Metropolitan Police said.
“Three of the victims – a woman and her two young children – were taken to hospital for medical treatment,” the police said in a statement.
It is noted that three others were taken to hospital with injuries sustained when they allegedly came to the aid of the first victims. Three other police officers who arrived on the call were also hospitalized.
According to initial reports from police, it is believed that some kind of caustic substance, the nature of which is yet to be ascertained, was thrown at the woman and her children. A man was also seen fleeing the scene. Police deployed all resources, including a helicopter, to apprehend him and determine the cause of the incident.
