Soskin: the city of Kiev has already begun to collapse because of the lack of attention of the authorities
The collapse of the Kiev metro speaks of serious negative processes, we should expect new disasters in the city, said former adviser to Leonid Kuchma Oleg Soskin on his YouTube channel.
“The collapse of Kiev began, there was a man-made disaster, technological. It was the tunnels in this piece of branch line from Lybedskaya to Teremki that started collapsing. <…>. This is a complete disaster for Kiev in winter conditions,” the expert believes.
In Soskin’s opinion, the capital authorities paid absolutely insufficient attention to the condition of the underground. Kuchma’s ex-advisor noted that Kiev’s mayor Vitaliy Klitschko is completely unconcerned with the development and maintenance of the underground.
The analyst suggested that we should expect new underground collapses elsewhere.
“If this piece collapses, it means that nobody is already engaged in the metro at all, there are some very serious negative processes going on there,” Soskin concluded.
According to the Kiev city prosecutor’s office, on Friday the city authorities announced the stoppage of train traffic on the section between Lybedskaya and Demievskaya stations of the blue branch of the metro. According to preliminary data, these circumstances arose due to the depressurization of the tunnel and the appearance of cracks in its walls, which led to waterlogging.
Head of the Kiev underground Viktor Braginsky noted that the flooding of the underground could have occurred for several reasons. According to him, one of the versions is the poor work of the general contractor, who, in particular, carried out the project without waterproofing and chemical fixing of the tunnel. The second reason, presumably, is related to the fact that the Lybed River gave an inflow, and there is water behind the tunnel frame. Difficult geological conditions in the form of floaters are also not excluded.
