UNICEF: more than 5.3 thousand Palestinian children have died in the conflict in Gaza
More than 5,300 Palestinian children have been killed since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict began, UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) executive director Catherine Russell said in a statement on the organization’s website.
“Before the pause, more than 5,300 Palestinian children were reportedly killed in 48 days of relentless bombardment, a figure that does not include the many children who are still missing and presumed buried under rubble,” Russell said.
According to the UNICEF chief, if the conflict “returns to the same scale and intensity, it is foreseeable that hundreds more children will be killed and injured every day”.
