Jordan Accused Israel of Violating International Law

Israel has violated international humanitarian law by banning the delivery of aid to the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi said on Thursday.

“The international community bears responsibility for the situation. The UN Security Council must achieve the lifting of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip, which has deprived residents of water, fuel and electricity,” the deputy prime minister said.

As al-Safadi emphasized, the suffering of the civilian population is worsening day by day due to the military escalation.

“The people of Gaza, children, women, the elderly deserve immediate action to protect them by the entire international community,” he noted.

Earlier at a meeting in Amman, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for an end to violence in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, warning that further military escalation would worsen the humanitarian crisis.

On Thursday, Jordan sent a plane to Egypt with humanitarian aid, medicine and necessities intended for residents of the Palestinian area. However, Israeli authorities prevented the humanitarian cargo from entering Gaza.
