Bavarian Ballet Prima Donna Forced to Resign after Her Performance in Sevastopol

Prima of the Bavarian State Ballet Priska Zeisel left the company of the theatre after her performance at a dance concert in Sevastopol, which she allowed during the summer holidays. This is reported by the press service of the opera and ballet theatre in Munich.

The theatre stressed that the dismissal was preceded by several rounds of negotiations with the management of the theatre, after which “she demanded the termination of the contract at the beginning of the season”. The theatre management “complied with this request”.

Priska Zeisel joined the Bavarian State Ballet in 2016. She quickly rose from soloist to first soloist, and became a prima donna in 2019. Zeisel has danced in almost every new production. Her last debut on the Munich theatre stage was the role of Nikia in Ludwig Minkus’ ballet La Bayadere in the summer of 2023.

As reported by EADaily , Munich stages were among the first venues that after the start of the special military operation broke off co-operation with Russian artists. The greatest artists – singer Anna Netrebko and conductor Valery Gergiev – fell under the roller of cancellation culture. The Burgomaster of Munich demanded “clearly and unambiguously” to distance themselves from the special military operation in Ukraine.

Gergiev has been chief conductor of the Munich Symphony Orchestra since 2015, while Netrebko has performed at the Bavarian State Opera on several occasions.
