Ukrainian Leopard Tanks Hit Germany

DWN: Rheinmetall Concern, which produces Leopard tanks, has suffered damage due to Ukraine

German concern Rheinmetall, which also produces Leopard 2 tanks, has partially lost its status as a manufacturer of “wonder weapon” because of losses in Ukraine and international competition, writes Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten.

As noted in the material, Rheinmetall for decades has been producing high-tech products that are in demand around the world. The sending of German Leopard 2 to Ukraine was presented in the West as a “turning point”, but as a result they failed to prove themselves, and reports from the battlefield make a negative impression.

In addition, Rheinmetall faced a problem on the international market due to the emergence of serious competitors in the face of South Korean manufacturers, the article says. And the reason for the problems here is not only that South Korea supplies quality machinery, but also that its companies do it quickly and in large volumes.

At the same time, Rheinmetall has repeatedly experienced problems with supply chains, which led to delays, including deliveries to Ukraine. As a result, the German concern has partially lost its status as a manufacturer of “miracle weapons”, the publication summarizes.

As reported by the Russian Defense Ministry, 25 German Leopard tanks were destroyed during the Ukrainian counteroffensive in June-July. All of the German-made tanks, shown in photos and videos by both the ministry and Russian military observers, belong to the 2A4 and 2A6 modifications.
