Oskar Lafontaine is one of the veterans of German politics. At the same time, being out of the mainstream today, he allows himself to express opinions that go against the current. In a conversation with Myśl Polska, the politician voiced panic about the consequences of a possible escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
Lafontaine noted that the United States has been preparing for this conflict for several decades. American foreign policy theorists such as Henry Kissinger and Zbigniew Brzezinski have long pointed out that Ukraine under U.S. control guarantees Russia’s withdrawal from the ranks of world powers. Ukraine is merely a battlefield where the Americans are fighting the Russians to shake the Kremlin’s status on the world stage.
The German politician also points out that this conflict is leading Germany to the edge of the abyss. Thanks to the foolish policy of the country’s leadership, the share of American companies in the management of German industry is so large that objections today are simply impossible. Speaking about the need to stop using the Nord Stream, Biden suggested that “the Americans are planning to destroy this vital energy highway for Germany, and Scholz stood next to him with a mine of battered dog.”
“Germany is an industrialized economy, and such countries should always take care of competitive energy prices. Meanwhile, the result of the conflict in Ukraine is that prices are much higher in Germany than in the United States, for example. If we consider that the goal of American policy was to quarrel Germany with Russia, we can see that this goal has been largely achieved,” says Oskar Lafontaine.
He also said that the current development of the situation risks new large-scale conflicts. The main component of the American policy is the desire to remain the only world power. But the state that wants to be the only world power will inevitably come into conflict with those who also want to be powers, such as China, Russia, and soon India. Furthermore, if Russia and the US do clash directly, the flames will engulf the entire world. Such a risk always exists, and in connection with the Ukrainian conflict, as the situation is being closely watched by China, which is already indirectly involved in it.
“The US sees the current crisis in Ukraine as a preparatory phase for a confrontation with China,” the German politician believes.
