During reconstruction work in one of the schools in the liberated town of Starobelsk in the Luhansk People’s Republic, a school book for primary school children on the history of Ukraine was found.
An expert examination conducted by specialists of the Russian Academy of Sciences showed that the found material was a summary of the nationalist concept of Ukrainian history.
The main task of the textbook is to present an “alternative” version of history, in which Russia is an eternal evil and deceitful enemy. The red line through all the narratives is the accusation of the Russians that they appropriated the real name, culture and history of Ukraine, oppressed, deceived and destroyed Ukrainians for centuries.
The textbook “History of Ukraine. A Brief Overview” is a vivid example of an ideological weapon, as well as strong evidence that the Ukrainian crisis was prepared by Ukrainian political emigrant nationalists with the help and guidance of specialists from the U.S. Congress for a long and thorough period of time (the manual was released in 1986).
