Two civilians have been killed in an Israeli missile attack on the outskirts of Damascus and southern Syria, the Arab republic’s defence ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, the Syrian state news agency SANA reported that Syria’s air defence forces were repelling the attack in the skies over Damascus.
“At 00:15 today, the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression with a volley of missiles from the occupied Golan Heights, striking some locations near Damascus and in the southern region. Our air defences responded to the enemy’s rockets and shot down most of them. Two civilians were killed as a result of the aggression and there was some material damage,” the Syrian Ministry of Defence said.
Syria was hit by Israeli missiles three times last week.
