Syria Says West not to Help Damascus after Earthquake

Syrian presidential adviser Shaaban: the West is only helping opposition groups

Syrian presidential adviser Buseina Shaaban said Western countries were not helping the Syrian government after the earthquake and were only sending support to terrorist and opposition-controlled areas.

“Unfortunately, the West only cares about the areas where the terrorists are, where the White Helmets are, but they don’t worry about the areas where most Syrians live… The truth is that the US and Europe are only protecting the White Helmets… Most of the money, all the equipment was sent to Turkey from Europe and from the US. Nothing to Syria from Europe, at all,” Shaaban told the British TV channel Sky News.

Earlier, UN Resident Coordinator Al-Mustafa Benlamlich called on the Syrian government to put politics aside and allow access to the opposition-held northwestern region of the country to facilitate the humanitarian mission in Syria.
