The Netherlands plans to train 400 more Ukrainian soldiers under the Interflex programme in the UK this year, the kingdom’s defence minister, Kaisa Ollongren, said on Friday.
“Between January and April 2023, some 65 (Dutch) Marine soldiers will train two batches of 200 Ukrainian recruits each,” Ollongren said in a letter to the Dutch House of Representatives (lower house of parliament).
In the same letter, she said the Netherlands decided to send two Patriot SAM launchers and missiles to Kiev.
In August 2022, the Netherlands joined the Interflex programme to train and educate Ukrainian soldiers in the UK. Over 100 Dutch soldiers are currently participating in the training.
The Dutch authorities said that they would allocate 2.5bn euros of aid to Ukraine in 2023.
