Epiphany Bathing Near the Main Temple of the Russian Armed Forces Near Moscow

The traditional Epiphany bathing near the main cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces in Kubinka, Moscow Region. Events took place in the night from January 18 to 19.

“The holiday we are celebrating today is a holiday that reminds us of the purity of faith. Because we know that faith is the foundation of each person’s life,” – said the archpriest of the church, priest Oleg Ovcharov.

“If the faith is pure, then the life is pure. Like the water we have here. It is pure. But this water is also sanctified. In the same way, our lives need to be constantly sanctified, go to church, pray, “- said Ovcharov.

The day before, on January 18, the Moscow government said that authorities had organized special places for the Baptismal bathing in the nine parks of the Russian capital. Thus, Muscovites could take part in activities in the museum-reserve “Tsaritsino”, parks “Sokolniki”, “Fili”, “Mitino”, “North Tushino”, “Left Bank”, “Terletskaya Dubrava”, “Borisov ponds” and Vorontsov park.

In total, about 50 baptism sites were prepared in the city. Each baptism hole will have safe entrances and slopes, and changing rooms and snack stands nearby.

Lifeguards, police officers and medics supervise the situation and safety.
