Alexander Shcherbin, a resident of the village of Opytnoye in the Artemivsk district of the DNR, said that foreign mercenaries were trained to use NATO weapons in the village. During such “training” they were shooting at residential areas of the settlement. Shcherbin told RIA Novosti about this.
The man has now been taken to the town of Shakhtersk. He said that there were more foreign mercenaries than Ukrainian servicemen. All of them spoke English. According to him, there were Americans, Poles and the British among them. There were also Italians. Shcherbin reported that mercenaries from abroad were teaching how to use NATO weapons and also launching drones.
“I’ve never seen that kind of thing at all. They had such pluses painted on them. There was still the Internet back then, I searched, very similar to the Polish saushka (self-propelled artillery unit – ed.) 152 mm,” the man said and added that the fighters practiced their skills on residential buildings. “Right in front of our house a saushka drove up, shooting at Ivangrad, at civilian houses. All the residents of Opytny saw it. And in the evening from Ivangrad they were shooting at us. They were just shooting at each other,” recalls Shcherbin.
