Germans advised to prepare for the worst

The German automotive industry is preparing for the worst in connection with the demand of Russian President Vladimir Putin to pay for the supply of Russian gas to “unfriendly countries” in rubles. This is reported by RIA Novosti citing the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

According to the publication, Russian gas was still flowing into Germany last weekend. However, experts believe that this does not mean anything yet and many industries should prepare for the worst. The anonymous source said that “the worst is yet to come”.

According to Andreas Rad, head of the Association of the German Automotive Industry, German chains are under “enormous stress” at the moment. According to him, Germany will soon experience shortages in many areas.

Rad thinks that Germany needs to prepare for shortages of many raw materials as well as price rises. In particular, we are talking about palladium, one fifth of which is imported by Russia.

Earlier Bastian Fassen, the chairman of Federation of German Confectionary Industry Association, stated that if Russian gas supplies to Germany stop, it may turn into extinction of confectionary industry in the country. He has stressed that gas is the most important source of energy for the majority of German companies.
