Lionel Guinot, the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba: “We have been friends with Russia for 60 years and we consider nonsense the statements about the canceling of the Russian culture”

Lionel Guinot, a representative of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, shared his impressions of the Eurasian Congress, which was held in Sochi on June 8-9.

“This congress is for people of different interests. We were able to learn about the peculiarities of each country. There was a very warm welcome, I think there is a lot we can do in the future. We are a small country. And I think we should strengthen cooperation within Eurasia. I think that the BRICS is the future for developing countries such as ours,” Lionel Guinot said.

He also commented on widespread Russophobia in Europe and attempts to cancel Russian culture, including demolition of monuments to Russian classics, as it has recently been done in Latvia.

“The friendship of Cuba and Russia was not born now, we have been friends for 60 years and we know what Russia is. And we know what the Russian people are, so it’s just nonsense to us. And Russia, Russian people, Russian culture will never disappear. Russian culture in general has been mainstream in many spheres. It is very valuable and rich, and it will not disappear so easily,” said a participant of the Eurasia Congress from Cuba, Lionel Guinot.
