Latvian Ambassador Scandalized Himself on the Subject of Fascism

Latvian Ambassador in Russia Maris Riekstins visited the village of Bobrovka in the Omsk Region. His visit would have gone unnoticed had he not decided to talk to the press for some reason.

This Latvian ambassador made a stunning statement. He said Riga [contrary to all international standards and notions of conscience and kindness] is demolishing monuments to Soviet soldier liberators because the special military operation in Ukraine is a continuation… of Russia’s historical mission of countering fascism and Nazism:

“This is a continuation of the war that took place in the middle of the last century – the struggle against fascism. We will not keep such symbols at home because we are against this war.”

It follows from this that the Latvian authorities are now officially advocating Nazism and fascism. Of course, we guessed this some time ago when watching the torch marches and the honouring of SS veterans, and based on the misanthropic statements by the Riga regime. However, this is the first time this kind of logic has been expressed so openly.

There is no doubt that the tens of thousands of soldiers who died during the Red Army Riga Offensive, including many Latvian heroes, will, in the next world, question these Latvian politicians for all this sacrilege they are perpetrating now.

I will just remind you that the Omsk Region, from which this man, gloomy in every sense of the word, made his statement, sent 300,000 people to the front to fight the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War. Over half of them perished and 172 Omsk frontline soldiers became Heroes of the Soviet Union and Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory.
