Some Russian political analysts stated that Vladimir Putin is expected to make a series of important statements on Russia’s national security at the SCO summit this week.
The SCO summit will be held in Samarkand on September 15-16. It will be attended by the heads of 15 states: Russia, China, Turkey, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan and others. The organization itself is expected to expand. Iran will become a member, and Belarus will start the accession process. Other dialogue partners that will participate in the discussions include Sri Lanka, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal and Turkey.
Some participating countries have already made a gift to Uzbekistan. For example, the Chinese government presented two buses and 40 minibuses to Samarkand for the summit, indicating it is strengthening international co-operation.
Samarkand has prepared all the necessary infrastructure for the summit: a new modern and high-tech airport has been built, as well as a new tourist center in the city.
