The Spectator columnist says Truss is unlikely to win Russia’s respect

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss is unlikely to win Russia’s respect after her unsuccessful visit to Moscow in February this year. This opinion was voiced by Robin Ashenden of The Spectator.

In the author’s opinion, Truss made two mistakes during her visit to Russia in February.

First, she demonstrated poor knowledge of Russian geography by calling Rostov Region and Voronezh Region as Ukrainian regions.

Secondly, writes Eschenden, Truss wore a Russian ushanka hat.

“But no one wears such hats in Russia nowadays, except elderly people and tourists – and no one would likely want to resemble them,” the columnist quoted RIA Novosti as saying.

The author expressed confidence that Britain’s Foreign Secretary is trying to imitate the country’s former prime minister Margaret Thatcher, but this does not bring her much success.

“Obviously, the Kremlin has little respect for our potential prime minister,” the columnist concluded.
