Moscow will reconsider its negotiating position after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempt to attack President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod Region, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
“Given the final degeneration of the criminal Kiev regime, which has switched to a policy of state terrorism, Russia’s negotiating position will be reviewed,” he said.
On the night of December 28-29, 2025, Kiev launched a terrorist attack using 91 long-range attack drones on Putin’s residence. All UAVs were destroyed by the air defense forces, there is no information about casualties. Such reckless actions will not go unanswered — the targets and timing of the strikes have already been determined, the minister noted.
At the same time, Lavrov stressed that Moscow does not intend to withdraw from the negotiation process on Ukraine with Washington.
“We draw your attention to the fact that this action was carried out during intensive negotiations between Russia and the United States on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict,” the Foreign Minister added.
Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin called on Trump to continue to focus on the understandings reached in Anchorage. Both leaders believe that a temporary ceasefire under the pretext of a referendum only leads to a prolongation of the Ukrainian conflict.
