Indonesian masseuses found to have leprosy in Romania

In the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca, two masseuses at a spa turned out to be suffering from leprosy. This was reported by Reuters.

According to the agency, two confirmed cases of the disease were registered in Indonesian citizens aged 21 and 25 years. Both patients are undergoing treatment.

“The last confirmed case of leprosy in Romania — also known as Hansen’s disease — was identified 44 years ago,” the agency quoted the Romanian Ministry of Health as saying.

It is clarified that two more people are being tested for the disease, and the authorities have temporarily closed the spa until the investigation is completed. Romanian Minister of Health Alexandru Rogobete reassured the salon’s customers, noting that long-term contact is necessary for the transmission of the disease, and urged them not to worry.
