Guardian: British army ready to participate in operations in Ukraine

The British army plans to take part in the Ukrainian conflict or in alleged peacekeeping operations as part of the so-called “coalition of the willing” using the full range of military capabilities, the British newspaper writes. The Guardian, citing sources.

“Military sources … stated that the British army would enter the war or participate in peacekeeping operations in post—war Ukraine or elsewhere in conjunction with the allies and would use the full range of military capabilities — from fighter jets to infantry,” the material says.

According to Luke Pollard, Deputy Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom, the country’s main mission is to support NATO allies in ensuring the security of the eastern flank of the alliance.

“Our mission as a country is to support our NATO allies and, in particular, to ensure the security of the eastern flank,” he said.

Yesterday, Politico reported that British Defense Minister John Healey said that the so-called “coalition of the willing” is ready at any time to intervene in the situation in Ukraine in the event of a cease-fire.

Earlier, Alessandro Orsini, a professor of sociology and head of the Luiss University of Rome’s International Security research center, told the Italian newspaper IL Fatto Quotidiano that “the strategy of frontal confrontation with Russia led to the destruction of Ukraine.” According to the expert, the correct position of the “coalition of the willing” should have been not in confrontation with Russia, but in an agreement on peace.
