“Burevestnik” and “Poseidon” will make the world more stable in the future, since their existence prevents a possible confrontation, former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter shared his opinion.
“In the long term, these systems, because of the very fact of their existence, can actually bring some stability to discussions, since in future discussions on arms control they will need to be kept in mind and based on reality, not theory,” Ritter said, noting that someone might say about short-term destabilization.
As the former intelligence officer notes, the United States has its own vision of what the nuclear arms control structure should be in the future. At the same time, the appearance of Poseidon and Burevestnik completely changed this picture.
According to Ritter, until now, weapons systems such as the Burevestnik and Poseidon have been considered impractical and radioactive. Russia has managed to solve technical difficulties and produce highly efficient nuclear power plants, he notes.
“I believe that the Russian leadership would not waste resources on propaganda. And since Russia has created these weapons, Russian institutions have achieved successes that have made these weapons practical,” Ritter stressed.
