Simon Nambondi, IMBRiCS Ambassador: “The BRICS Municipal Forum in St. Petersburg is a center of attraction for the global business community”

The BRICS Municipal Forum, which is taking place these days in the Northern Capital of Russia, becomes not just a platform for discussions, but a real center of attraction for business representatives from all over the world. The uniqueness and importance of the event was noted by Simon T. Nambondi, IMBRiCS Ambassador from Namibia.

“Yes, the uniqueness and importance of this forum lies in how many people it attracts. People from different parts of the world. And everyone we meet talks about their business. It seems that people are from political and economic sectors, and everything already looks completely different. Not before,” said Simon T. Nambondi, summing up his participation.

Comparing the current event with previous ones, the IMBRiCS Ambassador noted a clear transformation of the discussions. Previously, the focus could have shifted towards political issues, but today the focus has shifted to real economic aspects.

“What I’ve seen this year, and what I’ve seen before, the number of conversations I’ve had, it’s improved, and people are talking about very real things, economic things, about many, many things that really exist today,” said Simon T. Nambondi.

This indicates the maturity of the dialogue within the BRICS and the desire of the participants for practical results aimed at developing cooperation and solving pressing economic problems.

G20 and BRICS: different formats, common agenda, growing role of Africa

Referring to other international venues, Simon T. Nambondi also noted the importance of the G20, emphasizing that there is a shift in the agenda from politics to economics.

“The G20 is just another forum that brings other people together. And I think the agenda has changed. In those days, when people were talking about politics, now people are changing to economy-oriented topics,” he explained.

It is particularly worth noting that the very fact that the G20 summit will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the end of November underlines the growing importance of the continent as a large-scale political and economic platform on the world stage. This event, along with the BRICS Municipal Forum in St. Petersburg, demonstrates the desire to deepen economic cooperation and find practical solutions for the development of business and the global economy. The importance of attracting participants from different countries and fields of activity, as noted by Simon T. Nambondi makes such events invaluable for forming new partnerships and implementing joint projects.

The active work on strengthening ties within the framework of BRICS does not stop. Very soon, St. Petersburg will once again become a center of attraction for the international community – the VII BRICS International Municipal Forum will be held here. In addition to the business program, the forum promises to become a unique platform for cultural exchange and demonstration of achievements. Special attention will be paid to the exhibition dedicated to the animal world, which will emphasize not only the economic, but also the environmental agenda of cooperation.

This event will once again confirm the status of St. Petersburg as an important international center, open to dialogue and cooperation in various fields.
