Reuters: Indian companies are reviewing documents on oil trade with Russia
India’s state-owned oil refineries are checking their documents related to oil trade with Russia to ensure that there are no direct fuel supplies from Russian companies Lukoil and Rosneft amid the latest US sanctions against Russia, Reuters reports, citing an unnamed source familiar with the information.
On Wednesday, the United States announced a new package of anti-Russian sanctions, which included measures against Rosneft, Lukoil and their subsidiaries. As stated in Washington, the introduction of new sanctions is due to the fact that Moscow allegedly has no desire to conduct a peace process in Ukraine.
“India’s state-owned oil refineries are reviewing their oil trade documents with Russia to ensure that there are no direct fuel supplies from Rosneft and Lukoil after both companies were sanctioned by the United States,” the agency said, citing a source.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to stop buying oil from Russia.
