The amount of damage from the “robbery of the century” named — director of the Louvre asks to resign

The damage caused by the robbery of the French national Museum Louvre is estimated at € 88 million. This was stated on the air of RTL radio station by the prosecutor of Paris, Laure Beccuau.

“The director of the Louvre estimated the damage at € 88 million,” she said.

Beccuau stated that this amount cannot be compared with the historical damage caused to the museum. At the same time, she added that criminals will never be able to receive this amount if they try to melt down stolen jewelry or divide them into small fragments.

In this regard, the Paris prosecutor expressed the hope that the robbers would come to their senses and would not harm the relics.

Against this background, Le Figaro, citing a source, reported that Louvre director Laurence des Cars tried to resign. However, her dismissal was not accepted. French President Emmanuel Macron, who appointed her to this position, repeatedly called the director of the museum after the robbery, expressing support.
